This area has long served as a gateway — for people, ships, and trains — a starting point for all kinds of circulation and exchange. Blue Bottle Coffee Takanawa Café embodies the notion of passage: of crossing thresholds and entering new worlds. Its spatial design draws upon this legacy, inviting visitors into a quietly transformative experience. Each moment within the café — from ordering to pickup to the act of drinking — is framed by symbolic “gates,” gently detaching the visitor from the outside world. These thresholds lend structure and significance to otherwise habitual actions, elevating the everyday into the extraordinary. The space becomes not just a point of transaction, but a locus for human connection and the exchange of ideas — values carried forward into the future. Rooted in place, the design reinterprets the memory of traditional stone walls that once shaped this landscape. Stones more than a century old have been carefully repurposed, embedding the past within the present and extending their narrative into the next hundred years. Through this overlapping of temporal axes — memory and projection — the café offers a contemplative model for sustainable, culturally resonant design. The architecture unfolds seamlessly beyond the café itself, integrating with the adjacent office entrance to create a cohesive and harmonious spatial atmosphere. A gently curving bench at the threshold offers an inclusive gesture of welcome, accommodating a diversity of guests with grace and ease. At the center of the space, a composition of nested tables and benches evokes the flowing rhythm of a river. Their varied heights respond to different modes of use, generating a quiet choreography of movement and interaction. This repetition of form and material introduces a sense of continuity — both visual and social. Along the café’s edge, a layered seating area recalls the stacked stone embankments that once defined the site. Reimagined for contemporary life, this feature mediates between interior and exterior, guiding guests fluidly across thresholds while offering space for pause and presence. Together, these elements shape a timeless environment — one that honors the passage of time, the flow of people, and the quiet beauty of meaningful transitions.

このエリアは古くから、人・船舶・鉄道など、あらゆる流通の起点としての “ゲート”が存在してきた。ブルーボトルコーヒー 高輪カフェは、その「ゲートを通り抜け、新たな世界へ入る感覚」を空間デザインで表現し、訪れるゲストに特別な体験を提供する。オーダー、ピックアップ、ドリンクといった一連の行為は、それぞれがゲートを介し、周囲の世界から切り離されることで、日常から非日常へと転換される。人と情報だけでなく、人と人とのコミュニケーションの価値を強く提示し、未来へとつなぐ事を目指している。素材と形状には、この土地に根ざした“石垣”の記憶を引用。100年以上前に使われた石材を、これからの100年に受け継いでいく想いを込めて用いている。過去と未来の時間軸を重ね合わせ、新たなサステイナブルデザインの可能性を切り拓いた。カフェのデザインは周辺のオフィスエントランス空間にも広がり、エリア全体に統一された空気感をもたらしている。店舗前に配された曲線のベンチは、多様なゲストを受け入れながら、優雅で包容力のある存在となっている。空間の中心にはゲートを想起させるネストテーブルとベンチが連なり、川のような流れをつくり出している。様々な用途に対応した異なる高さがリズムを生み、連続する同じ形状と素材の存在が、空間全体の中で強いアクセントとなっている。石垣を積層したようなシーティングエリアは、内と外を緩やかにつなぐ装置となっている。昔このエリアに存在した築堤を連想させる存在は現代に甦り、ゲストの時を未来へ運んでゆく。時代を超越した、人と時の流れを鮮やかに浮かび上がらせる新たなカフェ空間となっている。
